Who is eligible? Making the AAU Taekwondo team starts with placing in the top eight in any division of competition at the district level. Those placing in the top eight at the district level are invited to participate in that year’s AAU Taekwondo National Championships.

AAU Taekwondo The Amateur Athletic Union has taken a very different approach, allowing students from any association or federation to participate. Some events, such as forms competitions, are broken into specific Taekwondo styles so that you only compete against students with a similar background to yours.

All athletes participating in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 must be born on/or before 31 December 2003 (at least 17 years of age). Additional IF Requirements: To be eligible to participate in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, all athletes must: – Be a Kukkiwon Dan certificate holder. – Hold a WT Global Athlete License.
How do you join the Taekwondo Olympics?
The only way to qualify a full team (4 men/4 women) is to have at least one (1) athlete per weight category ranked among the top-5 countries of the WT Olympic Rankings, have the highest ranked athlete in each weight category of the WT Grand Slam Champions Series (see b.), or a combination of the two.

But those just starting out also risk mentally burning out by training too often. New practitioners would ideally train 3 days per week, and then increase frequency as they progress.
