Faora is a supervillainess appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman. All of her versions have some connection to Superman’s home planet of Krypton. The character was created by Cary Bates and Curt Swan, and first appeared in Action Comics #471 (May 1977).

Is Ursa from Superman based on Faora?
In the movies Superman and Superman II, the Kryptonian villainess Ursa is purportedly based on Faora, in spite of the fact that Faora made her first appearance in May 1977, whilst Superman I & II were had already commenced filming in the March of that year. She has a hatred of all men, except for Zod.

The current comics version of the character is called Ursa, and is active on New Krypton. In Smallville, the current version is Faora. Ursa is depicted in both Superman films as a hater of any member of the male gender anywhere. The only exceptions to this appear to be Non and General Zod.
