How do I choose a wastegate?

Below is a simple guide to help you:

  1. A Big Turbo/Low Boost = Bigger Wastegate.
  2. A Big Turbo/High Boost = Smaller Wastegate.
  3. A Small Turbo/High Boost = Smaller Wastegate.
  4. A Small Turbo/Low Boost = Bigger Wastegate.

How can you tell if TiAL is real?

If you look closely at the real wastegate you will see three grooves coming from the middle to the outside across all the ridges. These grooves are not present in the fake wastegate. There are also differences in the center as well as the side profile that can be seen in the photos.

Where should I put my wastegate?

The ideal location for the wastegate is as close to the turbine housing as possible, and in a manner that provides a good flow path into the wastegate. If this is not possible, the next best location is at (or just after) the exhaust collector and again, in a manner that provides good flow into the wastegate.
